Insurance Services Office (ISO) has introduced a “Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule” in several states, and intends to expand use of this schedule to all states where natural hazards (such as hurricanes, earthquakes and floods) are prevalent. In connection with this schedule, ISO designed a sample form that can be used by a “design professional” to render an opinion that a building was built in conformance with building codes that mitigate the effects of natural hazards. The result of this certification would be an insurance premium credit.
ACORD has developed ACORD 195 in cooperation with several companies, agents associations and design professionals, to track with ISO’s sample form. Consult your company to determine if it will require the completion of this form.
